SOLAR FOUNTAINS AS AN ALTERNATIVE

If you want an outdoor water fountain, but iffy about electrical wires slithering on your garden or lawn, then outdoor solar fountains are the best choice for you.

Aside from doing away with the wires, you can also save on electricity as solar fountains solely work from the Sun’s energy. Solar fountains are also easy to install and minimal maintenance is needed.

Solar fountains are truly the alternative to the fountains that are powered by regular means.

How does this work?

Instead of turning your water fountain on using electricity, solar fountains are powered by solar panels which are made up PV (photovoltaic) cells. What these panels do is collect energy from the sun and power your fountain.

There are two types of solar fountains. Some solar fountains have solar panels integrated on the design of the fountain itself. This type of fountain is the easiest to install but you have to make sure that you are getting enough sunlight to where the fountain is located.
Then there are fountain that have remote solar panels. The panels can be positioned a few meters away from the fountain. This is particularly helpful if you want to place your fountain in a shady part of your garden or lawn. The panels are easy to set up. You can mount them on walls or on the lawn as long as there is sunlight.

Cloudy days will likely have an effect on the functionality of your fountain. Your fountain will get less sunlight and water flow on your solar water fountain will be thinner and slower.
At nighttime, you will not be able to use your solar water as the solar panels are not able to store enough energy to power your fountains during nighttime. Other solar fountains have battery support but most solar fountains are especially designed just for daytime and sunny weather use.

During Winter

Yes, you can still use your solar water fountain during winter provided there is sunlight and the temperature is not below freezing. However, it is best to keep your fountain during this season. You would want to take extra care not only of your fountain, but also of the pump. Make this an opportunity to thoroughly clean your fountain and the pump. When winter is over, you will have a fountain as good as new. Besides, I am sure you don’t want to stay outdoors if it’s really cold.
